- Sometimes less disciplined than should be
- Business: learning, building instead of marketing
- Sometimes struggle to focus on highest return activities, filtering out the many good ideas to focus on the best few.
- biggest competition for time is love of learning
- Sometimes build custom solutions (to scratch my itch for learning and building) where existing tools would be more efficient. I generally should prioritize practical “out-of-the-box” functionality over “build-it-yourself” flexibility.
- Less energy and motivation to work 70 plus hours per week, like 30 years ago
- Near zero understanding of U.S. financial advisor market and regulations
- Still have modest network in Canadian financial industry, but stale
- Keeping it SIMPLE
- as an detail-focused engineer, my default is to be thorough and comprehensive when shorter and simpler is generally best
- Currently have no team to help pursue mission. Intentional choice to start small and build as a solopreneur initially
- Lack of urgency
- While I am genuinely passionate about my mission and purpose, my financial independence means that I do not have the time pressure produce business income in the short term.
- On the positive side, this time flexibility allows me to to pursue strategies and plans that are optimal in the medium and long term.
- Very little Social media network
- No Facebook/Meta, X/Twitter, Instagram followers, by design
- 500+ LinkedIn connections
