SDC KSF: Process over Outcomes -> $MART DEBT Roadmaps

Section titled “SDC KSF: Process over Outcomes -> $MART DEBT Roadmaps”
  • A key success factor for SDC and the advisor is a focus on process instead of outcomes.
  • The client first advisor is focused on the process of educating new wealth acceleration strategies that could benefit clients, helping clients understand the pros and cons of those strategies, and helping the client decide which makes sense for them, and only implementing if the client benefits (first).
  • The advisor is satisfied if the result of the process is the client choosing to not use a strategy, as this is also value delivered. The advisor’s focus is a process that delivers client first value that results in client appreciation and referrals for the professional approach and process, not the path chosen.
  • This focus on the process and not the outcome is foundational and strategic. For both my business in helping and guiding advisors, and for advisors, and also clients.
  • For this reason, and the key success factor of naming things to own the category and thought process, I think it would be strategic to brand many SDC processes with a label, like … $MART DEBT Blueprints.
  • “process over outcomes” philosophy builds trust, manages expectations, and aligns perfectly with the ethical “client-first” stance
  • A blueprint is a detailed plan with the goal of creating a desired result. It defines a specific process that increases confidence in getting what you want.
  • For advisors, focused on different goals, at different levels, (introduction, professional, certification, top producer, etc.)
  • For investors
  • For industry lenders, money managers
  • Better name: $MART DEBT Roadmaps
    • Both blueprints and roadmaps are short with semantic metaphors of building vs journey, have visual representations that can be used in infographics and (low opacity) backgrounds
    • Roadmaps
      • Better alignment with process towards a goal, a journey where progress needs to be monitored…
      • Aligns with choosing the best vehicle. My “The Smart Debt Coach” book already heavily uses the metaphor of vehicles to illustrate different smart debt strategies.
