  • SDI - lender tactics to be wary of
    • All businesses need to make money. Even nonprofits need to cover expenses to continue to offer their nonprofit services. But sometimes lenders can use language that borrowers need to be wary of.
    • With [BMO PaySmartTM,] turn your purchases into manageable interest-free payments with a low monthly fee. 1, 2
    • The above sales message suggests that you can achieve interest free payments. But relabelling a cost as a monthly fee instead of interest is in my opinion deceptive. Yes, lenders need to run a business profitably. And consumers, of course want to minimize their total net costs.

They put the odds in their favour and let randomness and luck even out over time.

    • Having a minimalist design to be efficient and allow user focus on what is most important, while being a source of lots of valuable ideas. Want to model brevity like fireship.io and apple and others. Ask AI for practical solutions to this dilemma. My answer is Progressive education, where well-designed minimal communication allows users interested to go deeper on the ideas they value. Make it easy to get started and continue in small incremental steps create a user experience and journey that works with how human brains actually work.
    • Additional strategy is to allow user to specify personalized preferences, most importantly including the default detail level. Most will want a minimalist and Progressive initial experience. Power users might prefer more detail initially with the ability to still go deeper.

    • Analogies for clear memorable communication
      • Create effective refined analogies to illustrate leveraging and Client First leveraging
      • Leveraging. The best analogy I am aware of for leveraging is driving a vehicle instead of biking or walking. To get to your geographical or physical goal, most people fundamentally have a few choices. 1. You could walk. Simple, safe, available to almost everyone. But slow. The investment equivalent would be using guaranteed Investments. No short-term risk, but you might not get to your desired destination. Two. You could use a bike. Meaningfully Foster, but there is a risk of injuries. The investment equivalent would be equities, higher returns generally to get to your destination faster, but real risks exist. Three. Most can use a vehicle to get where they want to go significantly faster. But using a vehicle results in the highest levels of risk, including Serious injury and even death. The investment equivalent is leveraging, or borrowing to invest. Returns are magnified, not increased good returns are made better, and because risks are also magnified, bad or negative returns are made much worse.
      • Address the area of affordability or accessibility. Walking and guaranteed Investments have no cost and thus are available to everyone. A bike requires a modest investment, hello cost. I would suggest that effective investing in equities requires a modest investment in understanding, management, and discipline. Using a vehicle, especially one that you own, requires a much higher cost and thus is not an option available to everyone. With leveraging, there are is also a much higher Financial qualification hurdle. Generally you can only borrow from A lender who is confident you will pay them back. This requires either a stable income or assets that can provide collateral for the loan. Additionally, for effective leveraging, there is a much higher investment in understanding, management, and discipline. For these reasons, and the reality that the wealthy generally more actively seek more advanced wealth building strategies, leveraging is typically a strategy most often considered and used by the rich.

  • Smart debt coach pledge narrative
    • Interviewer asks tell me about the pledge. What is it about and why 50%? That seems very generous. Answer. For starters, I am very fortunate, and extremely grateful. Both in terms of when and where I was born, I deserve no credit, but these were key to me surviving cancer. If I had been born just 40 years earlier, we would not be speaking now. And while Canada’s Healthcare System can be improved in many significant ways, it is still one of the best in the world, and is available free for all Canadian residents. In my case, my out-of-pocket costs were about $200, mostly for parking. In the late stages of my successful stem cell transplant, one of the nurses revealed that the cost of my Cancer Care up until that point was about $440,000. So I have many thousands of reasons to be grateful, and I feel a genuine commitment to both pay that back to society, and pay it forward. One of the most rewarding things I can do as a result of this pledge, is not just donate millions of dollars to advance cancer research, I am also hoping the pledge inspires others business owners and philanthropists alike, to model this approach of publicly declaring that future endeavors are for the win-win purpose of both adding value and contributing to some worthwhile cause like improving Healthcare. I look forward to the day when someone here’s about my smart deck coach pledge and contacts me to inform that the idea Inspire them to do the same, to publicly declare a similar pledge. If this pledge results in only saving two lives that go on to do something similar, I will consider it a huge success. To that end, there is a pledge forum where people can share their stories., at smart debt coach.com/pledge.
      • Ensure narrative includes the phrase, both pay it back, and pay it forward. This is a simple memorable quotable.
      • From a simple math perspective, if 2022 cancer treatment did not keep me alive, I would have zero more days to enjoy life and my beneficiaries would have zero additional dollars from my efforts past that experience. So realistically, 100% of my days are a bonus and any additional money that results from my smart debt mission is also a bonus to my beneficiaries,. And consider the other hoped for possibility. If my focus was actually self-centered, if my mission results are increased because this pledge initiative is shared by forums and people like you enough, 50% of a larger pie is bigger than a 100% of a smaller pie. This is fundamentally the same reason that startup businesses take on Venture partners. They realize that combined with others money and networks, each side ends up with more. A classic win-win-win.
  • Improved cancer processes
    • Nurse Navigators have been added to do what Theresa did to follow up faster processing of biopsies.
    • Positive biopsies are now automatically routed to the cancer team, as I initially suggested.
    • But Dr. Barghi is getting discouraged by the lack of progress.
      • IT measuring the impact of these changes is absolutely wrong.
      • His analogy is trying to fix a plane while it is in the air. The system is so big and complex that it can’t stop moving forwards to allow meaningful changes or fixes.
