Installed and configured Herdr (tmux-like multiplexer with AI-agent state awareness) as Talbot’s daily driver, replacing ~/.tmux/work.sh for Ubuntu terminal sessions.

  • Herdr installed (0.8.0, ~/.local/bin/herdr) and auto-starts on every new Ubuntu terminal via ~/.bashrc (exec herdr, guarded against Cursor/VS Code integrated terminals).
  • ~/utils/herdr-workspace.sh — idempotent bootstrap script that creates/focuses workspace work with tabs (in order): KB-mBR (auto-launches claude), KB-Core, KB-OS, Template, monorepo, utils, web-deploy. Registered at Core/IT/Utils/Custom/herdr-workspace.md (gotchas documented there, not duplicated here).
  • Bashrc now runs this script before exec herdr, so new terminals land directly on “work” instead of the default ”~” workspace.
  • claude-session-title plugin (bcihanc/herdr-claude-session-title) installed and wired — mirrors Claude Code’s session title (from /rename or auto-summary) into the Herdr tab label, so the same name shows in both the Herdr sidebar and Remote Control’s session list.
  • Remote Control: confirmed ~/.claude/settings.json has "remoteControlAtStartup": true — durable global setting, every future Claude Code session is visible on Talbot’s phone/tablet apps without a manual /rc.
  • AI dept Tools folder restructure: adopted Core/AI/Tools/Custom/ + Core/AI/Tools/External/ pattern (mirrors Core/IT/Utils/). Herdr’s own usage note lives at Core/AI/Tools/External/Utilities.md.
  • SSOT cleanup: consolidated Tools-and-Platforms.md into Resources.md; moved Skills.md into folder-note position at Skills/Skills.md (now leads with a link to the Skills Dashboard).
  • Spun off a dedicated follow-up task for the full-vault SSOT naming-collision sweep: Core/AI/Tasks/KB-SSOT-Sweep.md.

Gotchas (full detail in Core/IT/Utils/Custom/herdr-workspace.md)

Section titled “Gotchas (full detail in Core/IT/Utils/Custom/herdr-workspace.md)”
  • Herdr CLI --workspace/--tab flags need IDs, not labels; pane run is positional, not flag-based.
  • A bad --cwd silently falls back to $HOME instead of erroring.
  • No tab-reorder command — tab position is creation order only; reordering means closing and recreating tabs.
  • Bashrc auto-start ordering: an earlier exec-ing block (e.g. old tmux auto-start) silently prevents a later block from ever running. Caused a real “Ubuntu still launches tmux” bug after Herdr was enabled — root cause was a leftover tmux block higher in the file, not a Herdr config issue. Check block order first when an auto-start change “doesn’t take.”
  • Full-vault SSOT naming-collision sweep — deferred to KB-SSOT-Sweep.md.
