What shipped

  • New Focus ongoing project — Core/Processes/Projects/Focus/ (KB-native, Processes-owned; DASHBOARD/STATUS/ROADMAP/UPGRADES/LESSONS/Tasks/logs). Coordination layer over pre-existing focus tooling (Focus pages, notify app, Windows-startup reminder, Filter+Focus.md per business, filter-focus-refresh skill) — no content moved, everything stays at its own SSOT home. Registered in Ongoing-Projects.md registry + Smart task template’s kbProjects array.
  • Stale Focus.lnk retired — was pointing at a deleted SDC-era wallpaper (D:\FSS\Misc\Planning\Focus.jpg); disabled (renamed .disabled, reversible) since Comet.lnk already autostarts independently.
  • Comet startup fix (final, working): Settings → On Startup → “Continue where you left off” + Focus tab pinned. Two earlier attempts rejected: shortcut-args (no such field in .lnk Properties; would’ve launched a second window) and “Open a specific page” (wipes the whole prior session, not just adds a page).
  • Duplicate pointer found and retired: KB-OS/Focus-Pages.md was a pointer-to-a-pointer (→ IT/Utils/Custom/Focus-Pages.md → monorepo doc) — moved aside to Focus/archive/; Focus/DASHBOARD.md now links the real IT-owned stub directly.
  • Dynalist-import backlog item resolved (Later/Dynalist_Inbox.md:286) — Warp integration dropped (deprecated), APE confirmed as SMTM’s obsolete predecessor.
  • New SMTM “Communication Style” section in SMTM_System.md (added after “AI Session Efficiency”) — order-first Next Steps, [x] = landed outcome only (not analysis), bare file names when contextually obvious, bold key phrases, no preamble. All 5 task/project skills (task-start, task-continue, task-complete, project-continue, project-task-complete) now point to it. Committed + deployed via ai-config fe66edf.

Why it matters

Talbot’s Comet-fix feedback surfaced a real gap in how Claude Code writes “Next Steps for Talbot” — action buried in prose, [x] marked before the fix actually worked. Fixed at the SSOT (one new section, five one-line pointers) rather than patched ad hoc in this task file alone.

  • Windows .lnk shortcuts have no separate Arguments field — target+args is one string, and a second shortcut can’t retarget an already-running singleton browser instance.
  • Chromium “Open a specific page” ≠ additive — it replaces the whole session. “Continue where you left off” + pinned tab is the actual combination that preserves prior tabs while still surfacing a fixed page.
