Herdr Cleanup
Section titled “Herdr Cleanup”What changed
Section titled “What changed”- SSOT relocated. Herdr tool entry moved
Core/AI/Tools/External/Utilities.md→Core/IT/Utils/External/Utilities.md(it’s a terminal multiplexer, not an AI tool). AI dept keeps a one-line pointer;Core/AI/Notes/WSL-Windows Config.mdcross-links why Ubuntu terminals run Herdr instead of tmux. Core/IT/Utils/Custom/herdr-workspace.mdis the working “home” note — usage, config file locations, reorder script, gotchas.- Core tab cwd fixed to
/mnt/d/FSS/KB/Core/_WorkingOn/Tasksand made first tab.~/utils/herdr-workspace.sh(bootstrap script) rewritten so fresh builds get this automatically. - Live tab reorder made a self-serve script:
~/utils/herdr-reorder-core-first.sh— closes/recreates non-Core tabs (only way to reorder; herdr has no reorder command), refuses to run if any tab has an active agent. - Self-heal for WSL restarts.
herdr-workspace.shnow checks all canonical tabs and recreates any missing one on every new terminal (via~/.bashrc) — a WSL/Ubuntu restart hangs up every pane’s shell, which herdr prunes as “closed”; this no longer requires manual recovery. - Template tab removed (final simplification) — closed live, dropped from
herdr-workspace.sh’sTABSarray. Canonical set now 7: Core, KB-mBR, Acct-HST, KB-OS, monorepo, utils, web-deploy.
Key gotchas (for future config changes)
Section titled “Key gotchas (for future config changes)”session.jsonis server-persisted runtime state, not a config file. A tab’scwdis set only once, atherdr tab create --cwd ...time — editing the bootstrap script’s--cwdvalue does nothing to an already-existing tab. Must close + recreate to change cwd.- No tab-reorder command exists. Position = pure creation order. To reorder, close everything after the target position and recreate in desired order.
- A WSL/Ubuntu restart, not
herdr server stop, causes tab loss — panes getsignal=Hangupon restart, which herdr treats as tabs closing. - Custom vs External folder convention confirmed:
Custom/= scripts Talbot/Claude authored (one file per util);External/Utilities.md= consolidated reference about third-party tools themselves. A custom wrapper script around an external tool belongs inCustom/; the tool’s own reference stays inExternal/Utilities.md.
