Regenerate Core/Misc/OrgChart.md’s ## Tree fenced block from Staff-file frontmatter — no hand-maintained YAML SSOT.

  • Location: D:\FSS\Software\Utils\PythonUtils\orgchart\
  • Target: Core/Misc/OrgChart.md (only the ## Tree fenced block; surrounding prose stays hand-maintained)
Terminal window
cd D:\FSS\Software\Utils\PythonUtils\orgchart
uv sync
$env:PYTHONIOENCODING="utf-8"
uv run orgchart

Run from Windows (PowerShell), same reason as folder_structure: a WSL-side uv run corrupts the Windows .venv. From WSL, wrap in cmd.exe:

Terminal window
/mnt/c/Windows/System32/cmd.exe /c "cd /D D:\FSS\Software\Utils\PythonUtils\orgchart && set PYTHONIOENCODING=utf-8 && uv run orgchart"

PYTHONIOENCODING=utf-8 is required — Windows console defaults to cp1252, which can’t print the tree’s box-drawing characters.

Walks every .md under the vault root (D:/FSS/KB — Core, SDC, MBR, FSS all included, so a wrapper SVP homed outside Core, e.g. SDC/Strategy/Staff/SVP-Strategy.md, is picked up), reads frontmatter, and picks up any file with both name: and reports_to:. Builds the tree by following reports_to edges up to the CEO root.

Prerequisite: every Staff file needs reports_to: (CEO for an SVP; SVP-<Dept>/VP-<SubDept> for anyone under them). A file without it is invisible to the tool.

Known gap: stub sub-depts and dormant mission anchors (no Staff file exists) don’t appear in the generated tree — nothing to parse. Previously hand-annotated inside the fence; now dropped on regen. Re-add by hand below the fence if needed.

Terminal window
uv run orgchart --dry-run
uv run orgchart --kb-root "D:/FSS/KB" --org-chart "D:/FSS/KB/Core/Misc/OrgChart.md"
