Obsidian Web Clipper — Setup (Phase 1 SSOT)

How the browser extension must be configured so every clip lands in Core/Misc/Clippings/ with routing-ready frontmatter. The extension settings are browser-side — only Talbot can apply them. Exact UI labels are from Web Clipper ~0.12; minor label drift possible in newer versions, the settings themselves are stable.

Why

Clips keep landing in D:\FSS\KB\Clippings\ (vault root). That is Web Clipper’s fallback when the template’s Note location is empty — the vault-root folder will keep reappearing until the extension template is fixed.

Extension settings (Talbot — one-time, ~3 min)

  1. Click the Web Clipper icon in the browser toolbar → gear icon (Settings).
  2. Under General: confirm the connected vault is KB (D:\FSS\KB).
  3. Under Templates → select Default (the template used for all clips):
    • Behavior: Create new note
    • Note location: Core/Misc/Clippings ← the fix
    • Vault: KB
  4. In the same template, edit Properties to match the table below (add dept, keep the defaults).
  5. Save. Clip any page as a test → verify the note appears in Core/Misc/Clippings/ in Obsidian.

dept allowed values: Strategy, Mktg, AI, IT (default AI). Web Clipper has no dropdown — the picklist is enforced socially + at triage; the P2 /triage-inbox skill treats dept as a hint, not truth.

Original proposal had topic/business props — superseded by Talbot’s decision (2026-07-09): reuse tags, add dept.

Per-source templates with URL triggers (Settings → template → Trigger): medium.com → Medium Summary template, youtube.com → YouTube Summary. Community templates may exist — check before building (borrow > build).
