Project created 2026-07-22, spun out of KB-OS task KB-OS-focus-ongoing-project (that task file holds the origin discovery + Talbot’s design decisions). This project is a coordination/portal layer over pre-existing focus tooling — nothing was moved, each artifact stays at its own SSOT home.

  • 2026-08-20 — Ecco replacement researched, closed: keep Ecco. No candidate (Tana, Tolaria, Capacities, ClickUp, Dart AI, SiYuan) earns a migration. Talbot’s frontmatter+Bases hypothesis works only file-per-item, which flattens hierarchy — and he rated multi-level depth HIGH. Real gap was narrower: hierarchy inside a filtered view. LIST flattens, TASK only looks like it filters, dataviewjs does both. Cost named honestly: custom JS in the vault. Build spun out to ecco-notepads-build (autonomous, 5 phases, Phase 0 = Obsidian CLI as test harness). Deliverable: Core/IT/Utils/External/PIM-Alternatives.md. Three rules promoted to AGENTS.md (installer-version-lies · release-assets-over-write-ups · prior-verdict-is-scoped). Log: logs/2026-08-20_Ecco-Replacement-Research.md
  • 2026-08-20 — Focus Coach closed (3 rounds, rock: off). Off-rock decision rule recorded in focus-ledger.md (>50% off after 10 rows → address why); cadence duplication fixed (weekly Plan: BIGGEST Rocks block owns re-ranking, Routines.md row owns the ledger read); staleness flag 30 → 7 days, which is Talbot’s requested Monday check with no new surface. Finding: priority truth is asserted on four surfaces, and MBR/Strategy/Filter+Focus.md (named as MBR’s live ranked list) is 4.5 months stale — refresh-or-demote left to Talbot. Spun out Tasks/ecco-replacement-research.md. Global rule promoted to AGENTS.md: behaviour-change features must be blocking forced choices naming one alternative, never advisory notes (ai-config 93fe2e5). Log: logs/2026-08-19_AI-Focus-Coach.md
  • 2026-08-19 — AI Focus Coach shipped: three SMTM gates (rock-alignment at /task-start 4b; creep at /task-continue 4b, firing every round from 4 onward; one-row ledger append at /task-complete 7c), plus a rocks-refreshed: stamp on Core/DASHBOARD.md with a >30-day staleness flag in session-start-inject.sh and a monthly Rocks + focus-ledger review routine in Routines.md. All gates are blocking forced choices naming one alternative — design adjudicated against Core/Processes/Behavioural-Solutions.md (execution friction ≈0; decision prompt 2.6%→26.9%). Two of Talbot’s three asks were deliberately cut: the /task-complete impact retro (no decision moment → replaced by the ledger) and a generated Rocks table (curation IS the filter; staleness was the real defect).   • 2026-07-30 — Mission SSOT embed pattern shipped, complete: MBR + SDC Focus.md no longer duplicate their Strategy/Identity/Mission.md text — both transclude it via Obsidian embed (!Path / !Path), resolved at build time by load-focus-content.ts (both sites/mbr and sites/sdc). Both sites deployed live and confirmed working by Talbot. link vs !embed convention documented in KB-OS-Usage.md. Log: logs/2026-07-30_Mission-SSOT-Embed.md. Known debt: the two load-focus-content.ts copies are more duplicated than before — see UPGRADES.md.
  • 2026-07-22 — Windows-startup visual reminder fixed: Focus.lnk (Startup folder) was pointing at a stale SDC-era wallpaper, since deleted along with Focus.pdf (Focus.svg kept as a template). Disabled the redundant shortcut (Comet.lnk already autostarts). Final fix, confirmed working: Comet On Startup → “Continue where you left off” + Focus tab pinned — restores prior tabs and surfaces Focus every launch. Two earlier attempts (shortcut-args, “Open a specific page”) failed — see LESSONS.md.
  • 2026-07-22 — Dynalist-import idea (Later/Dynalist_Inbox.md:286 — focus/reminders documentation, Warp integration, APE integration) triaged: Warp integration dropped (Warp deprecated, removed from Talbot’s system); APE confirmed as SMTM’s obsolete predecessor, safely ignored. Source line marked ✅ routed.
  • 2026-07-22 — Duplicate pointer found and retired: Core/Processes/Projects/KB-OS/Focus-Pages.md was a pointer-to-a-pointer (it pointed at Core/IT/Utils/Custom/Focus-Pages.md, the real IT-owned SSOT stub, which itself points at the monorepo doc) — a second redirect hop with zero unique content. Moved aside to Focus/archive/ per Talbot’s “cleaner and simpler” call; DASHBOARD.md’s Focus-pages bullet now links directly to the real IT-owned stub. Core/Processes/Processes.md’s Map of Contents is Waypoint-generated (auto-regenerates from folder structure) — not hand-edited.
