Proof C — does a filtered view keep the tree, if the items are checkbox tasks?

Section titled “Proof C — does a filtered view keep the tree, if the items are checkbox tasks?”

Round 3 of ecco-replacement-research. Proof A’s View 3 (a Dataview LIST over plain bullets) came back flat — four items flush left, no nesting. That is the one requirement Talbot rated HIGH.

Dataview’s own issue tracker says TASK queries render matched items indented under their parents, but only when those parents are themselves tasks. So this file re-runs the identical test with checkbox items. If View 4 nests, the flatness was a LIST limitation, not a Dataview one — and the vault route survives.

Separate file on purpose: these items would otherwise contaminate Proof A’s row counts.

View 5 — “Waiting”, as tasks (does a deep match still show its ancestors?)

Section titled “View 5 — “Waiting”, as tasks (does a deep match still show its ancestors?)”

The only waiting item is three levels down. This is the harsh version of the same question.

TASK
FROM "Core/Processes/Projects/Focus/proofs/ecco-tasks-depth-proof"
WHERE status = "waiting"
  1. View 4 — are the matched items indented, with “Confirm the send date with Talbot” sitting under “Draft the follow-up email” under “Chilton partnership” — or all flush left like Proof A’s View 3?
  2. View 4 — does “Check his Friday calendar block” appear even though it is thisWeek, not today? Dataview is known to drag non-matching children along under a matching parent. If it shows up, filtered views leak items — a different defect, and worth seeing now rather than in week two of a trial.
  3. View 5 — does the lone deep match show its ancestor chain, or appear alone with no context?

Row counts are not the signal here. Indentation is.
